O centro foi fundado em 1998 e está localizado a leste de Southend, no Christchurch Centre. O centro de estudos cresceu além de sua localização original e goza de uma reputação pelo sucesso de seus estudantes entre a comunidade local. No Southend East Study Center, existem 12 assistentes de turma treinados em diferentes áreas do estudo de Kumon, apoiando mais de 150 alunos de diferentes idades e habilidades. Os alunos podem começar a estudar em qualquer idade desde a pré-escola. A maioria dos alunos entra em sala de aula de forma independente, embora os pré-escolares ainda recebam assistência. Esses jovens estudantes trabalham com um assistente de ensino inicial para desenvolver fortes habilidades, progredindo para nossa área de ensino apoiada até que estejam prontos para um estudo autodidata, a fim de realizar todo o seu potencial em matemática e inglês.

Os programas exclusivos de Matemática e Inglês do Kumon buscam o potencial de cada criança desenvolvendo aprendizes independentes e confiantes por meio de estudos individualizados e avançados. Muitos alunos continuam seu aprendizado nos níveis GCSE e A, e um número completou os programas. O Southend East Study Center define metas para motivar e incentivar os alunos. A equipe reconhece as realizações dos alunos ao longo do caminho, mas as celebra publicamente em sua cerimônia anual de apresentação.
